Our Academic program is supported and complimented by a number of volunteer based programs. We are currently in the process of building and sustaining relationships with community members and agencies in making our volunteer based clubs and activities a success. DSBN Academy teachers are committed to ensuring that volunteers are matched with opportunities that highlight their strengths and skills to support student learning.

Volunteer as a Tutor

DSBN Academy welcomes applicants from students, parents and community members interested in volunteering as a tutor. Tutoring opportunities include providing direct support to a student or a small group of students to consolidate and supplement classroom instruction. Tutor positions are available in various subjects and grades.

Volunteer as a Classroom Support

DSBN Academy welcomes applicants from students, parents and community members interested in volunteering as a Classroom Support Volunteer. Opportunities include assisting teachers to prepare for highly engaging lessons and to academically support students within the classroom.

Volunteer as a Club or Activity Leader

DSBN Academy is currently in the process of building and sustaining relationships with community agencies to support our Encore Program. Our Encore Program is an after-school enrichment program that provides students with opportunities to identify their interests and build on their strengths so they become strong applicants for College and University. Students have opportunities to get involved with various co-curricular activities such as technology, cooking, arts and crafts, book club, environmental sustainability, leadership skills, technology, athletics and other engaging programs. We are open to suggestions and are interested in educational clubs and activities that enrich DSBN Academy students’ school experience. Our Encore Program clubs and activities run Monday through Thursday from 2:45 to 3:45 pm. within our facilities. We ask that leaders supervise a club or activity once per week, which they design and deliver themselves. To learn more about our Encore Program, please click here.

Volunteer for the Nutrition Program

DSBN Academy welcomes applicants from parents, guardians and community members interested in supporting our Nutrition Program. From the support of Niagara Nutrition Partners, each student at DSBN Academy has the opportunity to eat breakfast upon their school entry from 8:00 to 8:30 am. We also offer sandwiches to students that need a little extra at lunch time. Volunteer opportunities for the Nutrition Program include the preparation, serving and clean up of breakfast, or making sandwiches.
