It is so important to understand that parent engagement takes on many different forms. The list below is only a sample of opportunities.

At Home: Helping your child handle distractions; see obstacles as opportunities for growth; praising them for effort and persistence; helping them to constructively handle conflict while being positive about school as a whole.

Interviews: Attending Family-Teacher Interviews regarding student progress is critical. Dates and times will be communicated to our families and transportation support to St. Catharines is available if needed.

Workshops: Workshops for Families that are specific to the Developmental Age of Students will be provided by DSBN, Public Health, Niagara Region, and other community partnerships.

School Council: Eight Monthly Meetings which are also available through Webcam. Please see our School Council link for the Meeting Schedule and Webcam Instructions.

School Initiatives: Provide assistance with our Fundraising Initiatives, as well as assist with other needs as determined by the families of DSBN Academy.

Volunteer: Opportunities for Parents to volunteer at DSBN Academy include our Nutrition Program; Supervision support during our ENCORE Program; Facilitating Clubs and Activities; Academic Support; Preparing Resources; and Supporting School Events.
