The DSBN Academy Encore Program is identified as one of our key strategies for empowering students to become the first in their families to graduate from a post-secondary institution. The Encore Program is a mandatory requirement for students held on Monday through Thursday between 2:45 and 3:45 pm. This extended school day offers opportunities for enrichment and academic support. DSBN Academy recognizes the valued teachers, community members and organizations that design and deliver clubs and activities for the DSBN Academy Encore Program. Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the school. They give students the opportunity to:

• learn about teamwork, cooperation and fair play
• learn new skills
• assume leadership roles
• build self-esteem
• build on positive relationships with each other and community members
• consolidate skills they have learned in class
• receive additional support with learning when needed
