DSBN Academy provides many opportunities for parents to meet the yearly requirement of 15 hours of parent engagement. It is so important to understand that parent engagement takes on many different forms. The list below is only a sample of opportunities.
At Home: Helping your child handle distractions; see obstacles as opportunities for growth; praising them for effort and persistence; helping them to constructively handle conflict while being positive about school as a whole.
Interviews: Attending Family-Teacher Interviews regarding student progress is critical. Dates and times will be communicated to our families and transportation support to St. Catharines is available if needed.
Workshops: Workshops for Families that are specific to the Developmental Age of Students will be provided by DSBN, Public Health, Niagara Region, and other community partnerships.
School Council: Eight Monthly Meetings which are also available through Webcam. Please see our School Council link for the Meeting Schedule and Webcam Instructions.
School Initiatives: Provide assistance with our Fundraising Initiatives, as well as assist with other needs as determined by the families of DSBN Academy.
